FAQ's

1:  What if there is no job advertised that I want to apply for, but I really want to work at Sportsbet?

We have an “expression of interest” functionality on our careers site home page that allows talented people like yourselves to submit their CV for future roles.  We have our Talent team reviewing resumes on the daily, so we will keep in mind your expression of interest and see if we have a role that fits your experience and interests. As soon as there is something suitable, we will give you a call. In the meantime, though, you know you best, so don’t hesitate to continue to keep an eye out on our current vacancies.

2:  Do I need a cover letter with my application?

When it comes to cover letters, we will leave that decision up to you! In short, they aren’t required to progress, however we are on the lookout for individuals who do want to go the extra mile as we are a team of achievers here! If you do decide to include a cover letter as you feel it will strengthen your application, be sure to be specific and adapt it to the job you’re applying for. Tell us what makes you unique (we love unique), how you made an impact in your last role and use examples. Highlight your passion to work at SB and how your experience will shine in the position if you are successful, feel free to also add some excitement through sharing a bit about how you connect with sport – whatever floats your boat!

3:  Any tips for preparing an application?

Your resume is your opportunity to tell us all about your career journey. From achievements and successes to what your goals are in your next role, a strong CV should show the skills and experience you have acquired as well as a flavour of the person you are. Things that we find are important to stand out and make a great first impression:

  • Presentation – a well formatted and clear resume layout is key to catching our eye.  Simple to read headings and sections with key information is the goal. It doesn’t have to be long, 1-2 pages max.

  • Knowledge – have a read over the position description and match up your previous skills and experience you have gained that is relevant to the job. Having your most recent job at the top is always better and really highlight your accomplishments.

  • Spelling and grammar – this will show us whether you have the right communication skills and attention to detail for the job.  Having a family member or friend do a quick read over before you submit is always helpful.

  • Your details – you may see this as a no brainer, but trust us, it’s been done before. Ensure you include your name and contact details

4:  What do I do if I get offered an interview?

Firstly, take notes whilst doing your research and prep.  Under pressure in an interview setting, it’s easy to forget stuff, so having some simple notes with you if you’d find helpful is a great memory jog and can help you stay on track.  Secondly, think of examples in your work and personal life where you have done great things that relate to the role that you are interviewing for. Not only is this great self-reflection (and a chance to pat yourself on the back) but will help bring things to the front of your mind so that they are fresh! Thirdly practice. Practice your responses to the famous questions “what is your interest in this role” “why do you want to work for Sportsbet and why do you think you will be a good fit”. This doesn’t mean having scripted responses as it’s important to be you and natural, but it can help build your confidence. Last helpful tip, double check to make sure you have all the details of your interview like the location, date and time. If something is missing, reach out to your Talent Partner, we are here to help you kick some goals in your career.

5:  What should I wear to an interview?

Unlike the button-up shirt work environment you may have experienced in the past, dress code at Sportsbet is smart but casual. Our only request is that you don’t dress in a way that would disappoint your parents. So please, leave that three-piece suit or ball gown at home, even though it is an interview, we want you to feel comfortable!

6:  I applied for a role and haven’t heard anything back yet. Does that mean I am unsuccessful?

You will always be able to login to your profile to check the status of your application, but in any event, we will contact you either way to update you on your outcome (by either phone or email). Be sure to see when the job ad is due to close as if it hasn’t closed yet, we are more than likely waiting until all applications come through before progressing.

7:  What type of employee benefits do you offer?

Where do we start! When you join our SB family, you will have access to a range of benefits. Sportsbet's purpose is to bring excitement to life and we are all about backing each other so, to help you get your game on, we've put our money where our mouth is when it comes to valuing our people. From 6 months paid parental leave to flexible working arrangements, we are positive there will be something for you. Find out more here.

If you could go to any sporting event in the world, what would it be and why?

I am quite the tennis lover, so if the opportunity ever presented itself to go to Wimbledon I wouldn’t say no!

However, I still feel like our home town here in Melbourne holds the best sporting events with the AFL grand final and Melbourne Cup, both of which I would be at!

The game in the final episode of "Friday Night Lights"... why? Because Clear Eyes, Full Hearts Can't Lose!

If you could go to any sporting event in the world, what would it be and why?

Although I'm a Chelsea fan through and through, one day I hope to travel to Barcelona and see them take on Madrid at the Camp Nou or the Old Firm Derby in Scotland.

For now, I will be more than satisfied to see England win the Ashes over here.

Retrospectively, the dream would have been to be in Phoenix in Feb 2023…You’d have found me on the 16th Hole at TPC Scottsdale on the Friday/Saturday for the WM Phoenix Open and then rolled into the Superbowl at State Farm stadium on the Sunday!

Had the pleasure of going to a baseball game in Japan and was blown away by how fun the whole experience was. From the individual player chants, balloons, cheer sticks and delicious hot food, it all added to making the game that much more sensational. I'd love the opportunity to go see a baseball final with the Hiroshima Carps!
