About The Role

Sportsbet’s Specialist Operations Function exists to drive excellence in operational business units.  The Specialist Operations team includes Safer Gambling, Payments, Fraud, Operational Excellence and Anti Money Laundering Operations.

The Head of AML Operations role is primarily responsible for the operational execution of Sportsbet’s AML/CTF program.  Driving operational performance, KPI and SLA achievement, people engagement and fostering a culture of compliance are the key pillars to success in this position.  In collaboration with key stakeholders, you will advance the ongoing development of Sportsbet’s AML/CTF program and underlying processes supporting the organisation’s large customer base and future growth ambitions.

Furthermore, the role will play a critical role in advancing the sustainability of the Sportsbet relationship with its customers and creating trust in Sportsbet and our industry.

Responsibilities Include

  • Lead and optimise the operational execution of Sportsbet’s AML/CTF Program
  • Oversee the execution of critical AML / CTF processes and activities including KYC, Ongoing and Enhanced Customer Due Diligence, transaction monitoring and Restricted Territories monitoring, Sanctions and Political Exposed Persons identification and monitoring.
  • Review and enhance Sportsbet’s AML risk-based approach to detect, report and mitigate financial crime risks
  • Prepare operational and strategic reports for Sportsbet’s Leadership Team on AML Operations Performance
  • Lead the AML Operations team fostering a highly engaged, compliant and operationally efficient culture focused on continuous improvement
  • Drive team member engagement through local, department and business wide initiatives

About You

  • Operational and leadership experience (at least 5 years) in operational AML/CTF, Sanctions or similar
  • Proven experience in the development and optimization of processes, systems and capabilities with respect to AML/CTF, Sanctions and Fraud
  • Proven experience in making customer centric and risk-based decisions from AML indicators and data (e.g. triggering due diligence, requesting source of wealth, customer exits)
  • Demonstrated experience with AML systems, tools and case management software
  • Engagement and response to Compliance, internal and Regulatory (e.g. AUSTRAC) audits
  • A demonstrable track record working in high profiled and heavily regulated industries (e.g. financial services)
  • An inspiring and energetic leader with a passion for change
  • You have a ‘customer first’ attitude and constantly strive to improve customers’ experience
  • You are able to connect operational and strategic outcomes through systems thinking
