About The Role

As Payroll Manager at Sportsbet, you'll lead the delivery of payroll services across the business, ensuring our people are paid accurately, on time, and in line with all legislative and organisational requirements. Sitting within the Payroll team in our Finance, Analytics, Strategy and Transformation (FAST) department, you'll oversee day-to-day payroll operations, lead a small team, drive compliance and continuous improvement initiatives, and help optimise payroll systems and processes in a fast-paced, growing environment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of payroll services, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll outcomes.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing payroll team while overseeing workload allocation and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, taxation, superannuation, and reporting obligations.
  • Maintain strong payroll controls, support audit activities, and uphold data integrity and reporting accuracy.
  • Drive payroll system enhancements, testing, legislative updates, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

About You

While we are big on development and offer on the job training, we want to set you up for success.

You're a people-focused leader who thrives in a complex and evolving environment. With exceptional attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving, you're confident navigating payroll legislation and compliance requirements while delivering outstanding service to stakeholders across the business. You communicate effectively, build strong relationships, and balance tact, diplomacy, and sound judgement when applying policies and managing competing priorities.

What You Will Bring

  • Proven experience leading payroll operations and managing payroll teams in a medium to large Australian organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, and Fair Work requirements.
  • Experience interpreting Industrial Awards and Enterprise Agreements, including the Clerks Award (Private Sector).
  • Demonstrated expertise managing end-to-end payroll processes, payroll systems, reporting, and payroll compliance.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits, maintaining payroll controls, and driving process improvements
