About The Role

Ready to help shape a stronger, smarter control environment at Sportsbet? Reporting into The Head of Risk & Compliance, this is a high-impact role where you’ll partner closely with leaders across Finance and Corporate Functions to keep risk management practical, commercially aware, and built for pace. You’ll play a key role in strengthening financial controls, supporting regulatory compliance, and helping the business move forward with confidence. From SOX readiness to control uplift and transformation initiatives, you’ll bring a sharp eye for risk and a collaborative mindset that helps teams do great work, safely.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Partner with leaders across Finance, People & Culture, Legal, Corporate Affairs, Commercial, and Procurement to provide pragmatic risk and compliance guidance.
  • Strengthen the control environment across key corporate processes including financial controls, payroll, treasury, tax, procurement, and legal.
  • Lead and coordinate SOX readiness, including control documentation, testing support, remediation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support transformation projects and process changes by assessing impacts to financial reporting and key controls.
  • Design, review, and enhance controls that are scalable, practical, and embedded into day-to-day business processes.
  • Oversee assurance activity, track remediation actions, and help close control gaps in a sustainable way.
  • Manage control issues, audit findings, and exceptions, including escalation, root cause analysis, and follow-through.
  • Deliver clear, decision-useful reporting and insights that help leaders identify trends and strengthen risk outcomes.

Please note, this is a 12 month maternity leave cover commencing mid-late August 2026.


About You

You’re a confident and commercially minded risk and compliance professional who knows how to balance challenge with enablement. You build credibility quickly, communicate clearly, and know how to influence across a broad stakeholder group. You’re comfortable working in complex, regulated environments and bring a practical approach to improving controls without slowing the business down. You’re also someone who’s curious, adaptable, and always looking for smarter ways to do things.

  • Strong experience in risk, compliance, governance, audit, or financial controls, ideally within a complex or highly regulated environment.
  • A track record of designing, improving, and embedding control frameworks in operational settings.
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders to provide clear, commercially aware advice on risk and regulatory obligations.
  • Exposure to SOX programs, control testing, remediation, and audit support.
  • A proactive, outcome-focused mindset with strong ownership, sound judgement, and the ability to influence change.
  • A collaborative style and a genuine interest in innovation, continuous improvement, and using technology to strengthen risk management.
