About The Role

As the Employee Relations Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and embedding Sportsbet’s employee relations strategy, frameworks, and governance. Reporting to the Head of People Compliance & Employee Relations, this newly created role combines strategic ER leadership with hands-on case management, ensuring a consistent, compliant, and solutions-focused approach across the business. Partnering closely with People & Culture Business Partners and business leaders, you will provide expert guidance on complex employee matters while driving the development of scalable ER policies, processes, and capability uplift initiatives.
 
Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide expert advice and support on complex employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, grievances, misconduct, performance management, employment disputes, and ill or injured employee cases.
  • Design, develop, and implement employee relations frameworks, policies, processes, and governance mechanisms that support compliance and business objectives.
  • Partner with People & Culture teams and leaders to proactively identify, manage, and mitigate employee relations risks across the organisation.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance ER processes, tools, reporting, and compliance practices.
  • Deliver coaching, training, and capability-building programs that strengthen leadership confidence and employee relations best practice across the business.

About You

You are a trusted employee relations expert who combines deep technical knowledge with strong commercial acumen and exceptional stakeholder management skills. You thrive in complex environments, confidently navigating sensitive matters while balancing compliance requirements with business outcomes. A natural influencer and problem solver, you build credibility quickly, communicate complex issues clearly, and drive practical, sustainable solutions. You are passionate about creating fair, accountable workplace practices and empowering leaders through coaching, guidance, and capability development.
 
What You Will Bring
  • Extensive experience in employee relations, workplace relations, or a related People & Culture discipline, including management of complex and high-risk cases.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial relations frameworks, workplace investigations, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing employee relations frameworks, policies, processes, and governance structures.
  • Proven ability to coach leaders and HR professionals on employee relations matters, performance management, and best-practice interventions.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and provide practical, commercially balanced advice.
