About The Role
Reporting into the GM Risk, Compliance & Assurance (Line 2) / Chief Privacy Officer, this newly created leadership role will lead Sportsbet’s privacy, data governance and responsible AI agenda.
Leading a team of 4, you will play a key role in shaping a trusted and well-governed operating environment by designing and embedding practical frameworks, policies, controls and uplift initiatives that support compliance, innovation and strong commercial outcomes.
You will lead Sportsbet’s implementation of Flutter’s Responsible AI Framework, tailoring it to the local operating, regulatory and risk environment while also evolving Sportsbet’s data governance framework and privacy practices across the business. Working closely with teams across Technology, Data, Cyber Security, Product, People and leadership, you will provide trusted advice, influence decision-making, strengthen controls and help ensure the responsible use of data and AI at scale

Responsibilities Include:

Leading the ongoing development and implementation of Sportsbet’s privacy, data governance and responsible AI frameworks

Recommending and embedding policies, processes and controls to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws and relevant standards

Providing strategic and practical privacy advice across the full data lifecycle, including collection, use, disclosure, retention and deletion of customer and employee data

Supporting the effective operation and continuous improvement of privacy risk assessments, Privacy Impact Assessments and data breach response processes

Partnering with Product, Technology and Data teams to identify, assess and manage responsible AI risks across the AI lifecycle from design through to deployment and monitoring

Designing and continuously improving Sportsbet’s data governance framework, including policies, standards, guidance and training

Working with Technology, Data and Cyber Security teams to strengthen data ownership, quality, access controls, classification and lifecycle management
About You
While we are big on development and offer on the job training, we want to set you up for success. You will be a pragmatic and influential leader with deep expertise in privacy, data governance and/or technology risk and a strong interest in helping businesses adopt AI responsibly. You’re comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment and know how to balance strong governance with commercial outcomes. Ideally, you’ll bring:

Proven experience leading high-performing teams

Strong experience in privacy, data governance, compliance, risk, audit or governance roles in large or complex/highly regulated organisations

Demonstrated ability to design and operationalise governance frameworks, policies and controls
-
Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving change across cross-functional environments
-
Sound commercial judgment, problem-solving capability and the ability to navigate ambiguity
-
Relevant qualifications in privacy, data governance, technology law, AI ethics, risk or internal audit - you may also bring industry certifications such as CIPP, CIPM or CIMPT, or postgraduate study in a relevant discipline.
