About the Role

At Sportsbet, we’re reimagining what’s possible with data, machine learning and AI. We’re a fast-moving, customer-obsessed business — and we’re looking for an Operational Excellence Specialist to help us scale our data science ML capabilities, processes, practices, and governance to ensure that data science models continuously deliver measurable Customer and Business value. This is a fixed term contract role.

You’ll play a pivotal role in uplifting our end-to-end machine learning ecosystem — from model design and governance to deployment and continuous improvement. Working alongside data scientists, ML engineers and business stakeholders, you’ll help industrialise how we build, deliver, and manage models that power millions of customer experiences.

This isn’t a “keep the lights on” role — it’s about shaping the frameworks, automations and governance that let AI and ML thrive safely and efficiently at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement frameworks for ML governance, lifecycle management, and operational best practice.
• Work closely with Heads of Data Science teams to ensure implementation of ML best practices.
• Partner with Risk, Compliance and Privacy to embed ethical AI principles and standards.
• Identify inefficiencies in ML workflows and introduce automation, documentation, and streamlined processes.
• Champion change management and continuous improvement across data science teams — helping others adopt and scale best practice.
• Stay ahead of emerging MLOps and AI Ops trends to keep Sportsbet at the cutting edge.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years’ experience in project management, business analysis, or process improvement within data or analytics teams.
• Strong understanding of ML concepts, lifecycle management, and governance.
• Experience driving change and embedding frameworks across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
• The ability to influence key stakeholders to adopt best practices
• A mindset for continuous improvement and a drive to make things simpler, faster, and better.
